ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Foam Sacrum dressing has been designed for a superior anatomical fit on the sacral area to provide enhanced pressure sore management combined with the proven benefits of ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive.
ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum features include a design that is shaped to fit sacral area, low allergy adhesive, tapered construction and micro-thin edges, unique trilaminate construction, perforated wound contact layer, highly absorbent central hydrocellular layer, and a waterproof outer film layer.
The wound contact layer of ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum is coated with a low allergy adhesive which is designed to adhere well to intact skin, but not to wounds. The adhesive has a proven low risk of skin irritation.
In-vitro studies and clinical experience both demonstrate that ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum dressings can stay in place for up to five days. This capacity results from a combination of properties:
-The perforated wound contact layer allows even viscous exudate to pass into the dressing.
-The hydrocellular core of the dressing absorbs and holds liquid in its microscopic structure.
-The breathable outer surface of the dressing allows excess moisture to evaporate away from the dressing.
-The result is the formation of a wound environment, which allows wound closure to progress without the need for frequent dressing changes.
ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum helps create and maintain a moist wound healing environment at the wound surface.
ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum has a profiled cross-section, narrowing to micro-thin edges which ensure the dressing remains securely in place and prevents accidental removal by friction between the dressing and clothes and bedding.
The unique anatomical design is able to conform to the sacral area molding into the anal cleft, providing secure management of pressure sores and reduced risk of leakage.
The outer polyurethane layer of ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive prevents strike-through of excess exudate from the dressing, and minimizes the chances of cross-contamination and wound infection, therefore enhancing patient comfort and reducing healthcare costs. It also allows the amount of fluid in the dressing to be monitored.
ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum dressings are soft and cushioning, giving excellent patient comfort and protection.
Indications:
-Exuding granulating wounds (for example: pressure sores)
-It can be used in conjunction with INTRASITE Gel - Hydrogel Wound Dressing for necrotic or sloughy wounds.
Instructions for Use:
Step 1
Peel back the protector papers and anchor the dressing over the wound. Smooth the dressing into place, ensuring that the edges of the dressing are not wrinkled.
Step 2
When positioning ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum dressings, place the narrow end of the dressing a minimum of 3/4" above the anal sphincter, then smooth the dressing over the sacral area.
Step 3
During the early stages of wound management, ALLEVYN Plus Adhesive Sacrum dressings should be inspected frequently. Dressings can be left in place undisturbed until exudate is visible and approaches the edge of the dressing. The film backing prevents fluid strikethrough and aids in the prevention of bacterial contamination of the wound.
The frequency of dressings change is affected by the nature and condition of the wound, ALLEVYN dressings are designed to be left in place for up to 5 days.
Step 4
To remove, lift one corner of the dressing and stretch it gently away from the wound. REMOVEā Adhesive Remover Wipes may be used to aid atraumatic removal of adhesive dressings.
Precautions:
Do not use any ALLEVYN product with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite solutions (e.g. Eusol) or hydrogen peroxide.
In common with all adhesive products, some cases of irritation and/or maceration of the skin surrounding the wound have been reported. It should be noted that inappropriate use or too frequent dressing changes, particularly in patients with fragile skin, can result in skin stripping.
If reddening or sensitization occur, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.
